Dixie State University, in Saint George, Utah, seeks an Associate Provost for Academic Success to provide a major leadership role for the development, operation, and coordinated activities related to student retention and success. Reporting to the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Associate Provost for Academic Success is charged with facilitating the academic success of lower division students. The Associate Provost will direct the work of the Director of Academic Advisement, the Director of General Education and First Year Experience and the Director of the Honors Program.

Among the required qualifications are a doctoral degree (ABD or equivalent experience may be considered), a minimum of three years of college or university teaching experience, familiarity with the academic literature in the student success and retention arenas, and five years of successful administrative leadership experience with emphasis on lower division student success strategies. Dixie State University (DSU) is an open enrollment public comprehensive institution providing undergraduate and professional graduate education. It is a regional university and one of eight members of the Utah System of Higher Education. Because it offers both associate and baccalaureate programs, DSU functions as the community college for southern Utah.

As of fall semester 2018, 9,962 students were enrolled across one master's program, 45 baccalaureate programs, and 15 associate programs. DSU also offers concurrent enrollment courses for high school students, developmental courses aimed at preparing adults for a higher education curriculum, and community education courses. The university charges the lowest tuition rate in Utah and one of the lowest in the nation.
