The University of Alabama, College of Community Health Sciences (CCHS), which also serves as a regional campus of The University of Alabama School of Medicine, invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of CCHS and the Tuscaloosa Regional Medical Campus (TRMC). This is an opportunity for an accomplished leader in academic health to further a College committed to improving and promoting the health of individuals and communities in Alabama and the region through leadership in medical education and primary care; the provision of high quality, accessible healthcare services; and scholarship.

CCHS is the home of the Tuscaloosa Family Medicine Residency, the second largest Family Medicine Residency Program in the United States, and of the Primary Care Track of the 4-campus University of Alabama School of Medicine program. One in seven of Alabama’s family physicians graduated from CCHS’s residency program. In addition to undergraduate and graduate medical education, the College also includes the University Medical Center, which is the largest multispecialty group practice in West Alabama, the Rural Health Leaders Pipeline programs, graduate level training, and the Institute for Rural Health Research.

The Dean is responsible for providing administrative, strategic, and visionary leadership for CCHS. The successful candidate will ideally represent a primary care discipline of medicine and have an outstanding academic record. He or she will foster a deep commitment to teaching, research, and health promotion with and for Alabama’s rural communities. The successful candidate will also have excellent communication skills, a reputation for open and transparent leadership and the capacity to inspire and support faculty, residents, students, and staff in achieving excellence in training, patient care, and scholarship.
