The Social Science Department at LaGuardia Community College is seeking highly motivated and innovative candidates to fill one full-time tenure track position in Criminal Justice at the Assistant Professor level.
Primary responsibilities will include teaching a wide range of criminal justice courses including Criminal Justice, Criminology, Corrections, Policing, and other courses according to interest and need. The successful candidate will participate in departmental, divisional, and college-wide initiatives, provide academic advisement and student guidance, and contribute to program development. Appropriate professional development, research and scholarly activities are also expected. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and the ability to work with a diverse population.
Ph.D. degree in Criminal Justice or related field, or J.D. with related experience and membership in at least one state bar required.
Prior teaching experience at the college level including Criminal Justice, Criminology, Corrections, and/or Policing.
Also required are a demonstrated scholarly achievement, experience in student mentorship and guidance, and the ability to work collaboratively with other faculty.
Experience or the ability to teach a diverse student population which includes underrepresented communities.
