Dean, Jack Welch College of Business

Fairfield, Connecticut

Sacred Heart University (SHU) seeks a visionary and strategic leader to serve as Dean of the Jack Welch College of Business (WCOB). This is an exceptional opportunity to build on the successes of a distinctive business school located within a progressive Catholic university. The new Dean will join the College at a time of tremendous momentum as WCOB has begun to differentiate itself, as seen in its heightened academic selectivity, the adoption of the School of Computer Science & Engineering, the creation of innovative and specialized programs, and its physical expansion.

WCOB has been on an upward trajectory for the past five years, providing an innovative approach to education that prepares students to thrive in today’s business environment. The curriculum is distinguished by “The Welch Experience,” a co-curricular program that prepares students to be influential and successful business leaders, possessing strong analytical and quantitative skills. As technology increasingly becomes a cornerstone of business, WCOB is now home to the School of Computer Science & Engineering, further promoting interdisciplinary curricula and innovation. In response to increases in the number and quality of programs, the College continues to attract increasingly competitive students, eager to enter the workforce with skills to meet the needs of the competitive business marketplace. WCOB faculty possess a balanced approach to teaching, student success, and research, recognizing that each one informs the others.

Established as an institution dedicated to quality education, SHU has maintained its roots while pushing forward into a new era. SHU is home to 8,958 students in six colleges and two schools: College of Arts & Sciences; School of Communication, Media & the Arts; College of Health Professions; College of Nursing; Isabelle Farrington College of Education; St. Vincent’s College; and the Jack Welch College of Business, which now includes the School of Computer Science & Engineering. Accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), WCOB serves 1,761 undergraduate students, 485 master’s students, and 31 doctoral students. Community engagement and citizenship are core values of the College and University, and that is seen across campus in all of the schools and colleges.

SHU seeks a Dean who will lead the College’s faculty, staff, alumni and employer partners to develop and implement a strategy to strengthen WCOB’s brand, set a clear vision for its future, develop strong relationships in industry, and shape a framework to enhance and promote the student experience. On campus, the Dean will be a natural collaborator and coalition builder, working with colleagues to develop exciting initiatives. The Dean will also nurture the positive and collegial culture of WCOB. Off campus, the Dean will engage with alumni, stakeholders and corporate partners to increase the College’s resource base and further its reach and impact.
