Vice President for Academic Affairs

The College of St. Scholastica (CSS), a regional comprehensive institution situated in Duluth, Minnesota, seeks a visionary, inspiring, and transformational leader to serve as its next Vice President for Academic Affairs. Capitalizing on the momentum of recent growth, the College requires an academic leader and visionary who brings a passion for and relentless pursuit of academic excellence that will shape CSS’s academic mission for the future.

The Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) is a seasoned scholar and administrator with deep experience in higher education who will bring a robust track record of teaching and scholarship to lead CSS’s highly talented and passionate faculty in ensuring academic affairs is central to the College and serving students. While the VPAA’s academic focus can be in any discipline within the College’s curriculum, it will be critical that this new leader has an appreciation for and experience supporting diverse academic programs encompassed in CSS’s six schools – Arts and Letters, Business and Technology, Education, Health Sciences, Nursing, and Sciences.  A demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the Liberal Arts tradition and an innate sense of the connectivity between programs and the interdisciplinary opportunities within and across the schools will be key to the VPAA’s visioning and leading the deans and faculty in the implementation of the College’s Strategic Plan. An earned terminal degree and strong record of teaching and scholarship requisite for tenure among the CSS faculty is required as is a commitment to the Benedictine Values foundational to the College.

Founded in 1912 by Benedictine Sisters, today CSS is a co-educational, independent, comprehensive institution of higher learning offering undergraduate and graduate programs across six academic schools. The General Education program provides students a foundation in the liberal arts and sciences, cultivating a conscientious use of knowledge that prepares them for responsible living in a global community. CSS currently operates seven satellite campuses within Minnesota in addition to the main campus in Duluth. Programs are offered both online and on-site to over 4,000 undergraduate and graduate students.

CSS values diversity and is committed to equal opportunity for all persons regardless of age, color, disability, ethnicity, marital status, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, veteran status or any other status protected by law.
