Wright State University invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the Raj Soin College of Business (RSCOB). In keeping with the RSCOB mission to enable our stakeholders to discover, develop, and realize their highest potential through our teaching, research, and outreach efforts, the Dean will provide dynamic and visionary leadership to advance Wright State's mission of teaching, learning, scholarship, and professional service. The Dean must be prepared to support varied programs, lead a diverse faculty, and build collaborative partnerships across the university and the community. This is an outstanding opportunity for a creative energetic academician to lead a large, vibrant college with internationally recognized programs.

Wright State University is a community-engaged national public research university that offers an exceptional, affordable education in Dayton, Ohio. The university annually serves over 15,500 unique students and offers more than 230 undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and professional degree programs through eight colleges, three schools, and a second campus, Wright State University-Lake Campus, in Celina, Ohio. Wright State University was named in honor of aviation pioneers Wilbur and Orville Wright, who invented the world's first successful airplane in their Dayton bicycle shop. The Wright brothers conducted most of their early test flights at Huffman Prairie, just minutes from the Dayton Campus. Wright State University takes pride in its beautiful 557-acre campus, which includes lush forests and a biology preserve. The university's state-of-the-art facilities include 32 academic and support buildings, 30 student residential buildings, and a world­ class entertainment and athletics venue. Underground tunnels connect 20 of 22 buildings in the academic section of the Dayton Campus, shielding students and employees from any adverse weather and adding to the university's national reputation for accessibility for those with disabilities.

RSCOB serves approximately 1,600 undergraduate and more than 600 graduate students and has nearly 100 total faculty, 65 of whom are full-time, with 86 percent possessing a terminal degree. The college offers 11 undergraduate majors: accounting, business economics, entrepreneurship, finance, financial services, MIS, supply chain management, HR management, international business, management, and marketing; eight minors and six certificate programs; and five master’s degrees: accounting, information systems, logistics and supply chain management, social and applied economics, and a series of MBA cohort programs. RSCOB is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) as is its Department of Accountancy. Both recently received five-year reaffirmations. In addition, the RSCOB Information Systems program is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

The Dean of the Raj Soin College of Business will be responsible for leading the college in the pursuit of its mission and in building successful collaborative relationships with external constituents and within the college and the university.

Required Background and Experience

The Dean of RSCOB should have an earned doctorate or terminal degree in a discipline related to programs offered by RSCOB and a record of professional accomplishments and scholarship that meets the qualifications for the rank of full professor in a department of the college.

Preferred Qualities

An ideal candidate will have a strong and sustained record of teaching excellence and interdisciplinary initiatives; a strong and sustained record of research or creative accomplishments; substantial administrative, personnel and budgetary experience as chairperson or equivalent; evidence of a commitment to diversity; evidence of a commitment to and success in securing external funding including private and corporate gifts; experience in curriculum development including a commitment to innovative pedagogies, promoting interdisciplinary projects, and internationalization of the curriculum; evidence of strong interpersonal and communications skills with faculty, staff, students, alumni and community members; a record of implementing and/or supporting community outreach programs; evidence of recruitment and retention of a diverse faculty and staff, as well as team building, supervision, and staff support for professional development; experience with AACSB accreditation; evidence of relevant experience with business; and evidence of successful collaborations with groups and individuals, internal and external to the college and the university, with a commitment to foster interaction between colleges and professional schools.
