Scientist position as an Associate

The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine Abboud Cardiovascular Research Center at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics is recruiting a full-time scientist for a position as an Associate for a one-year appointment.  Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent and be authorized to work in the U.S.  

The successful candidate will have had hands-on experience in whole-cell and membrane-excised patch clamp using heterologous cellular expressor systems, rat neonatal cardiac myocytes, and isolated adult mouse myocytes from genetically engineered mice.  The candidate will also have experience in molecular techniques including real-time PCR, western blot, immunohistochemistry and immunocytochemistry.  The candidate will have experience in membrane trafficking of sodium channels and the effects of post-translational modifications. The applicant must be well published in high impact journals and be capable of successfully and independently writing grant applications.
