A unique academic leadership opportunity exists in Canada’s preeminent art and design university. The Vice-President, Academic + Provost plays a key role as a leader of excellence in trans-disciplinary, inclusive and socially engaged art and design education and research. This role is critical in supporting Emily Carr University’s commitments to sustainability, diversity, decolonization and Indigenization, and to ensuring continued vitality and excellence in academic programming and research. The Vice-President is pivotal in guiding the university through its strategic plan and vision of enhancing its world-class status.

Reporting to the President, the successful candidate will provide academic leadership with a wide range of responsibilities. These include providing educational leadership and management to all academic areas, including the Ian Gillespie Faculty of Design and Dynamic Media, the Audain Faculty of Art, the Faculty of Culture and Community, and the Jake Kerr Faculty of Graduate Studies, as well as Continuing Studies, the Libby Leshgold Gallery and the university library. They will also work with Student Services, ensuring excellence at all levels of operation. The Vice-President leads academic strategic planning, policy development, curriculum delivery and regular curriculum review initiatives according to the policies governing the institution. This position is also responsible for representing the university and promoting its interests and development to external bodies and the wider community.
