The successful dean candidate will be an innovator: a scientist or mathematician with openness to new ideas, and a leader infused with a collaborative spirit. The dean will be a distinguished scholar at the level of full professor who is ready to seize the opportunities that the thriving research environment of greater Boston offers and to expand the college's research profile. The new dean should have experience with the evaluation of faculty, with program development, and with budget planning, and should demonstrate a commitment to enhancing the research environment and success of the college and university. Candidates should exhibit impeccable judgment and a commitment to academic excellence and diversity in all its forms. The ability to articulate the excitement that surrounds STEM fields in our time both to university audiences and to the broader universe of community partners, elected officials, and business leaders will be essential.
