Faculty Position: Music Education

 

Position: General Music. Joint appointment in the Music Department, College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Education

The University of Missouri-St. Louis School of Fine and Performing Arts is a growing and dynamic part of UMSL community and enjoys lively relationships with many St. Louis Area schools and dynamic and active collaborative relationships with many St. Louis fine arts groups and agencies. The Music Department, including the Department's strong performing ensembles looks forward  to a move into a newly renovated facility soon.

The UMSL Music Education Department continues to value meaningful and innovative ways to develop both pre-service and in-service music educators through both innovative curricular design and community outreach and engagement.

Responsibilities: Teaching General music methods courses and other music and music education courses based upon candidate's areas of expertise. Demonstrated ability to supervise student teachers and organize fieldwork practicum is desired. The preferred candidate will participate in community-minded initiatives that attract music education students of all levels. Knowledge and experience in a music education pedagogy approach is required.

Qualifications: Doctorate in music or music education, K-12 experience, and expertise in music teacher preparation

Rank and Salary: Assistant Professor, tenure-track.  Salary and rank dependent up on experience.
