AGB Search is pleased to be assisting Des Moines University (DMU), a well-established graduate health science university, in its search for its Dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM).  Located in the vibrant and growing capital city of Iowa, the University enrolls more than 1,500 students in three colleges, offering 8 degree programs in medicine and the health sciences. The DMU mission is to improve lives in our global community by educating diverse groups of highly competent and compassionate health professionals.

The University seeks an engaging, inspiring, and collaborative leader, who is a highly effective administrator in all dimensions. Reporting to the Provost, the Dean is responsible for providing collaborative and consultative academic leadership for all matters within COM. The Dean has oversight of all programs within COM including the curriculum, planning and management of the operating budget, and development and implementation of strategies to promote the growth of COM’s biomedical, clinical, and research programs.

Candidates must hold a D.O. degree from a COCA-accredited College of Osteopathic Medicine (Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation), be qualified by education, training, and experience to provide effective leadership in education, scholarly activity and patient care, have a medical license and board certification (at some point in the candidate’s career), and at least five years of experience in academic leadership roles that include budget management authority. Demonstrated success in previous administrative, chair, or academic leadership roles, as well as excellence in clinical training and patient care are desired.
