Lecturer Position - Department of Animal & Veterinary Sciences

The Department of Animal & Veterinary Sciences at the University of Vermont invites applications for a two-year, benefits-eligible, renewable, non-tenure track, full-time Lecturer Position to ideally begin in Spring 2019. This is a 9 month (1.0 FTE) teaching, advising and service position.

The person hired will be primarily responsible for undergraduate courses in the Zoo, Exotic, and Companion Animals option of the Animal and Veterinary Science program. They will be expected to develop, expand and teach courses that complement existing course offerings within the Zoo, Exotic, and Companion Animals option. This faculty member will be expected to participate in undergraduate advising. Contributions to undergraduate experiential and service learning program opportunities will be expected. Contributions to the development and implementation of a One Health curriculum with other vested faculty in our department and other departments/programs will be strongly encouraged.

Minimum qualifications include a Masters, Ph.D., or DVM degree in Animal or Veterinary Science or a related discipline with a terminal professional degree preferred. The University is interested in a highly-motivated professional with demonstrated proficiency in zoo, exotic and companion animal health, management and behavior. As the department builds undergraduate and graduate student course and training opportunities related to the one health theme, professionals with expertise in a broad number of disciplines are encouraged to apply.

The Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences has approximately 300 undergraduate students in four options of study: Pre-Veterinary/Pre-Professional Science; Zoo, Exotic and Companion Animals; Equine Science; and Dairy Science/Management.
