Kennesaw State University (KSU) invites inquiries, applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the College of the Arts (COTA). Reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean directs and supervises programs that support both the University's and College's educational mission; engages and encourages faculty involvement, creative activities, and scholarship; obtains support for college programs and initiatives; and communicates college program accomplishments and needs effectively and enthusiastically to both internal and external audiences. There is a strong expectation that the Dean will play an active and visible role in the Atlanta and Georgia arts community, and is anticipated to assume office no later than July 1, 2019.

Founded in 1963, Kennesaw State University is a highly innovative institution with a history of tremendous growth and a trajectory for continued excellence in the future. KSU is the third largest institution in the University System of Georgia and welcomed more than 35,000 students this academic year. Designated as a comprehensive, Carnegie R3 university, KSU operates campuses in Marietta and Kennesaw, and combines a suburban setting within the dynamic environment of the Metro-Atlanta region. A leader in innovative teaching and learning, the University is comprised of 13 colleges. The College of the Arts is home to the School of Art and Design, Department of Dance, School of Music, and the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies. COTA students discover innovative ways to be entrepreneurs and engaged citizens. They excel as artists, conduct research alongside faculty, study abroad, and engage in a multiplicity of community-based practices that prepare them for future success.

The arts at KSU are vital to the ecology of the campus and the Atlanta community, providing opportunities to enrich people's lives and engage in critical discourse, while advancing the mission of KSU as a student-centered public institution. COTA's diverse offering of over 150 exhibitions, performances and public lectures, distinguish the University as one of the most artistically vibrant communities in Georgia. Partnerships with professional arts and community organizations ensure KSU's relevance to professional artistic practices. Students, faculty, and guest artists perform and present in state-of-the-art venues such as the Dr. Bobbie Bailey & Family Performance Center, Dance Theater, Onyx Theater, Stillwell Theater, and the Zuckerman Museum of Art.
