Founded in 1839, Westfield State University (WSU) is a comprehensive, coeducational, four-year public university in Westfield, Massachusetts. Founded by Horace Mann, a noted educator and social reformer, Westfield was founded as the first public, co-educational college in America to exist without barrier to race, gender, or economic class. Enrolling 5,000 undergraduates, 600 part-time students, and 800 graduate students Westfield strives to foster intellectual curiosity, encourage critical thinking, inspire civic engagement, and promote a global perspective.

The Vice President of Student Affairs must: work across departments and divisions to promote a fully integrated student experience; provide visionary student affairs leadership; serve as a trusted and valued member of the President’s senior leadership team; promote and strengthen the university’s diversity efforts and educate the campus community on inclusivity; and engage personally with the student population.

The successful candidate will be an advocate for students while also bringing the skills and experience needed for guiding senior staff in the Division, and an appreciation for the vision of the university community as a whole. While first-rate administrative skills are essential, the ideal candidate will also possess an educator’s passion, an abiding commitment to the individual, and a determination to contribute to the lifelong welfare and success of each student. The minimum qualifications include a master’s degree and ten years of increasing responsibility in student affairs-related positions.
