Dean of the Kania School of Management

Dean of the Kania School of Management
University of Scranton

The University of Scranton welcomes inquiries, applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the Kania School of Management (KSOM). Reporting directly to the Provost, the Dean provides the primary leadership to the School's faculty and chairs, supporting programs that provide students with a business education that is an expression of the mission and values of the University of Scranton as a Jesuit and Catholic institution. As a leader of the faculty, a colleague and collaborator with other deans, and an enthusiastic supporter of students, the Dean will continue to build on the strong foundation and reputation that KSOM enjoys both in the field and in the region. The new Dean is expected to take office on July 1, 2019.

The University is located in the City of Scranton, the sixth largest city in Pennsylvania and a vibrant college town, home to five colleges and universities. As a Catholic and Jesuit institution of approximately 3,600 undergraduates and more than 1,500 graduate students, the University delivers a meaningful education that challenges its students morally, spiritually and intellectually.

Widely recognized as one of the nation's best business schools, the Kania School of Management (KSOM) has been accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International) since 1996. The School is comprised of four departments: Accounting; Economics and Finance; Management, Marketing and Entrepreneurship; and Operations and Information Management. KSOM has a dual focus of being on the cutting-edge of scholarly teaching as well as following the Jesuit principle of cura personalis that emphasizes the care and development of each individual with respect to their uniqueness. The programs of study also include a strong integration of critical thinking, ethics and social responsibility in decision-making and leadership.

In addition to offering a range of undergraduate programs, including three that U.S. News & World Report ranked among the top 25 in the country, KSOM also offers master's degrees, as well as an innovative Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA). The School's curriculum is infused with the latest technology skills; Brennan Hall, home to the Kania School, is one of the most technologically advanced business school buildings, as is the Irwin E. Alperin Financial Center, which simulates a trading floor, complete with an electronic ticker and news and data feeds.
