Assistant Professor - Psychology

The Department of Psychology at the University of Cincinnati seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in perception-action and/or dynamical cognitive science. A Ph.D. in a substantive area that aligns with and complements our existing expertise and strengths in ecological and complex systems approaches to the dynamics of sensorimotor control and cognitive systems is a minimum requirement for the position. Current faculty expertise and interests include multidisciplinary perspectives on cognitive and perceptual-motor development, embodied cognition, dynamical and computational modeling, movement coordination, visual and haptic perception, and social perception-action-cognition and joint action, with applications to areas including robotics and human-robot interaction, rehabilitation, and sports medicine.

 

The candidate will be expected to collaborate with existing faculty in the Department’s Center for Cognition, Action, and Perception (CAP) and to contribute to CAP Center research, graduate mentoring, undergraduate and graduate teaching, service, and external funding efforts. A successful candidate will have a history of publishing original research in ecological-dynamical approaches to perception-action or cognition using methods such as dynamical or computational modeling, network theory, nonlinear time series and signal processing methods, or advanced analytics for large, complex data sets. A successful candidate will also have a history of obtaining external funding (as PI, Co-PI, or Co-I) or demonstrate evidence of training or professional development activities for enhancing grant writing skills.
