Clarkson University in Potsdam NY seeks an innovative, collaborative, service-oriented leader as Associate Dean of Health Sciences. The Associate Dean will report directly to the Dean of Arts and Sciences and provides the supportive leadership necessary to advance the initiatives of health sciences in the pursuit of the University’s mission and vision. Clarkson is aprivate, national research university that is a leader in technological education and sustainable economic development through teaching, research, scholarship and innovation.   The successful candidate will serve as the primary advocate for the Health Sciences Division in matters of curriculum, policy, program development, and resource allocation while establishing and strengthening relationships with community partners.

Clarkson University Health Sciences currently includes Physical Therapy (DPT), Physician Assistant (MSPAS), and Occupational Therapy (MSOT) programs. The Associate Dean will play a key role in the exploration and expansion of addition health science programs in the future.

Clarkson’s main campus is located on 640 wooded acres in Potsdam, New York, adjacent to the 6-million-acre Adirondack Park, with other campuses in the Capitol Region of New York (Schenectady), Beacon, Saranac Lake (in partnership with the Trudeau Institute) and Pier26 in Manhattan.  Montreal, Canada is located just over a two-hour drive from campus. Additional nearby attractions include Burlington, Vermont, Ottawa and the old and walled Quebec City, Canada. Clarkson’s 4300 undergraduate and graduate students hail from 46 states and 52 countries. 

The successful candidate will have an earned terminal degree relevant to an academic program or degree within the health science field. Experience as a university faculty member with credentials commensurate with senior faculty status (full professor rank).

A record of progressive experience in academic administration (attaining department chair or higher level at accredited universities).
