Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs

St. Joseph’s College, New York (SJC) is accepting applications for the position of Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs (Provost/VPAA). Appointed by and reporting to the College’s new and innovative President, Dr. Donald R. Boomgaarden, the Provost/VPAA is the chief academic officer of the College and is responsible for:  advising the President on all matters pertaining to academic affairs; coordinating College-wide academic policies, including faculty hiring, retention, and promotion; design of curriculum; support services needed for academic matters; and the instructional budget, including library and academic computing. The Provost will also serve on the President’s Cabinet and works closely and collaboratively with the executive deans, chairpersons, and faculty standing committees. The Provost/VPAA will assist the President in his work with the Board of Trustees, be the liaison to the Academic Affairs Committee, and represent the President (and serve as his spokesperson) during the President’s absences from campus. The Provost also supervises the Director of the Dillon Child Study Center on the Brooklyn Campus.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated a strong commitment to the liberal arts; embrace the charism of the Sisters of St. Joseph; have a proven record of successfully implementing and overseeing undergraduate, graduate and professional programs; and have significant experience with strategic planning, online learning and effective use of educational technologies. The new Provost/VPAA should be available to take office in July of 2019.
