Job Description/Responsibilities

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) invites applications for the position of Dean of the School of Pharmacy. The Dean is the chief academic and administrative officer of the School and reports directly to the Chancellor.

 

SIUE’s School of Pharmacy offers a professional program leading to the doctor of pharmacy (PharmD) degree. Established in 2003, the school graduated its first class in May 2009 and received full accreditation in June 2009. Class sizes range from 8082 students with 90 percent of those students residing in Illinois.

 

The School values excellence in teaching, pharmacy practice, research/scholarship and service. The six-year program of study is based on current knowledge and technology from pharmacy and other disciplines and is delivered through a variety of innovative teaching strategies.

 

The duties of the Dean embrace the general administration and facilitation of the School’s planning process, budget management, faculty and personnel management, administration of facilities and equipment, oversight and promotion of academic programs, management of student issues, fundraising and development, as well as alumni and public relations. The School of Pharmacy stresses collegiality and openness of communication, as well as commitment to diversity, inclusion and equity in pursuit of its primary mission, which is to ensure that graduates acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to function as educated individuals, life-long learners, and responsible citizens.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have an earned doctorate in one of the fields of study offered by the School or in a closely related field with sufficient accomplishments for appointment as a tenured faculty member in a department of the School. Evidence demonstrating innovative leadership and administration, scholarship, teaching excellence, service, scholarly accomplishments, and fundraising ability is required. The School of Pharmacy is ACPE accredited and candidates must possess significant administrative experience and a thorough understanding of the accreditation process. Successful candidates will have the capacity to foster relationships with alumni, community and industry partners, and other stakeholders.

State Salary Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Excellent benefits package included.

 

Terms of Appointment

Continuing, 12-month, 100%; beginning July 1, 2019.
