The University of West Florida in Pensacola, FL invites applications for a full-time, tenure-earning faculty position in Sport Management (position #120030) at the Assistant Professor level to start in August 2025, subject to funding. Candidates for this position must demonstrate the potential to pursue a balanced commitment to excellent teaching, productive research, and active service.

 

The University of West Florida, located in Pensacola, FL, emphasizes quality teaching. In addition, faculty members are expected to publish in quality refereed journals, maintain their academic qualifications, perform career and academic counseling, and serve on departmental, college, and university committees. A normal teaching load is three courses per semester. This position may require teaching at the nearby Fort Walton Beach campus of the university (approximately 50 miles east of the Pensacola campus). Opportunities for summer teaching are normally available. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A doctoral degree in Sport Management or a closely related field, including at least 18 graduate semester hours in Sport Management, is required. The candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching, academic research, and service.
  • The candidate must have pertinent work experience, engage in continuing professional development, and maintain an active research agenda to meet the qualifications for performing teaching assignments.
  • Relevant teaching experience, including proven effectiveness in online course development and teaching, is essential.
  • Evidence of potential for quality scholarship, including publication in qualifying academic journals, is required.
  • The candidate must meet the requirements outlined in the Lewis Bear Jr. College of Business Policy on Faculty Qualifications for an assistant professor position.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A doctoral degree in Sport Management or a closely related field, with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Sport Management, is preferred. Regardless of degree, it must be accompanied by pertinent work experience, continuing professional development, and a robust research agenda.
  • Teaching experience and/or scholarship regarding Sport Management topics are desirable.
  • Experience engaging with industry to provide students with high impact learning experiences and to explore opportunities for collaborative research.
  • A solid commitment to teaching, academic research, and service is required.
  • The candidate must meet the requirements outlined in the Lewis Bear Jr. College of Business Policy on Faculty Qualifications for an assistant professor position.
  • Preferred candidates will also have relevant teaching experience, including proven effectiveness in online course development and teaching. The department has a particular need for an individual with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
  • ESport Management
  • Sport Analytics
  • Sport Finance
  • Applied Sport Media and Communication
  • Sport Strategy Execution
  • Sport Sales/Revenue Generation
