One Year Clinical Assistant Professor of Yiddish Language and Culture

The Skirball Department of Hebrew and Judaic Studies of New York University invites applications for a one-year clinical assistant professor of Yiddish language and culture. The appointment will begin on September 1, 2025, pending administrative and budgetary approval. The appointee is expected to have a doctorate in a field related to Yiddish language and culture. The teaching load is 6 courses per year. Courses will include a two-semester sequence of graduate level Academic Yiddish. In addition, the appointee will teach 1-2 undergraduate courses in spoken Yiddish. Additional courses related to Yiddish language and culture will be determined in consultation with the department. We are seeking candidates with a record of teaching excellence and a commitment to equity and diversity in the classroom.

(3) One syllabus of a previously taught Yiddish language course (at any level)
(4) A proposed course related to Yiddish culture. This does not need to be a full syllabus, but should include a general course description with selected proposed readings.
