The Department of History at the University of West Florida (UWF) in Pensacola, FL is seeking a full-time Lecturer (#124200) for the main campus.  The responsibilities for this non-tenure track position during the academic year are 50 percent teaching (2/2 course load) and 50 percent service as the undergraduate advisor for the history department.  The successful candidate will typically teach the undergraduate methods course and one other course in his/her area of specialization each semester.  During the summer the individual serves as a full time advisor, working with incoming students, transfers, and participating in summer advising/orientations. 

 The successful candidate must have a Masters degree in History, American Studies, or closely related discipline from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization, two or more years of experience teaching undergraduate history majors and two or more years of experience advising undergraduate students.  Preferred qualifications include working knowledge of Banner and other advising tools, 2-3 years of experience advising undergraduate students, and 2-3 years documented experience teaching undergraduate courses in modern U.S. history and historical methods. Preference will be given to applicants with documented evidence of teaching excellence, and experience with distance education.
