The Division of Theatre, Meadows School of the Arts, Southern Methodist University seeks an outstanding specialist in Voice and Speech for a full-time, tenure-track or tenured faculty position in its nationally regarded BFA and MFA programs. We are searching for an Assistant- or Associate-level candidate; final rank and tenure will be determined at time of offer and will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Candidates should evidence: (1) a passion for teaching both Voice and Speech; (2) expertise and preferably certification in one of the prominent techniques of Voice and/or Speech production; (3) aptitude for identifying and addressing voice and speech habits; (4) demonstrable skill in effectively engaging students across the range of training levels from freshman BFA to third-year MFA students; and (5) the ability to balance demanding teaching responsibilities with a professional artistic career. The primary responsibilities for this appointment will be teaching Voice and Speech in both undergraduate and graduate curricula and serving as a Voice and Speech coach for departmental productions. An MFA or conservatory certificate backed by strong professional credentials is required. Successful candidates will be highly collaborative and will participate in academic advising, recruiting, student mentoring, departmental service as needed, and university service.
