The MIT Office of Graduate Education seeks someone to coordinate and perform operational and administrative activities for the Sloan-MIT University Center for Exemplary Mentoring (UCEM) in MIT’s Office of Graduate Education (OGE).


These activities (70% effort) include managing the scholar applications process; planning and staffing events for community building, recruitment and retention; performing data analysis and reporting for sponsor progress updates; and managing the program budget. Will also collaborate with the assistant dean and director of diversity initiatives (30% effort) to develop and support professional and scholar development programming efforts for the broader URM graduate population served by OGE.


Requirements: a bachelor’s degree; at least three years of administrative, operations, and/or project/program management experience; excellent analytical, interpersonal, organizational, and written and oral communication skills; attention to detail; ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, professional environment; desire to collaborate with internal and external partners; interest in working with underrepresented populations; and proficiency with standard data management software such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Suite, and SurveyMonkey. Experience serving as a significant contributor to diversity and inclusion efforts working with diverse populations in higher education is preferred.


Must be willing and able to staff evening and weekend community building events (two to three per month).


Salary range: $53,000-60,000


This is a 2.5 year appointment with the possibility of extension based upon available funding and satisfactory performance.
