As a communications director, you will serve as a cross-departmental anchor, leading the disparate teams responsible for developing and delivering SCAD branded materials toward shared goals. This role relies heavily on institutional knowledge, consultative and collaborative demeanor, deep understanding of the creative process, and the ability to translate complex ideas into measurable results across teams.

In this role, you will need to establish strong relationships with internal and external partners, prioritize and drive multichannel marketing and communications goals at all levels within the university’s global strategic plan, lead meetings on major campaigns and initiatives, oversee a team of creative professionals in the development of multimedia deliverables, and support the SCAD brand voice across all platforms.

Minimum qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least five years of progressive experience in an integrated marketing or communications role
  • Proficiency in project management or creative traffic management software

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience in a creative agency, event management environment, or publishing
  • Management experience
  • Advanced presentation design skills, preferably in an agency setting
  • Illustration skills a plus

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:
  • Valid driver’s license

Travel required:
  • 10-20%

Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
