Tenure-Track Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Computer Science

West Chester University of Pennsylvania's Department of Computer Science invites applicants for two tenure-track positions of open rank, to begin in August 2019. Actual starting salary and rank is commensurate with experience.

The Computer Science Department values faculty who balance excellent teaching with active scholarship. Responsibilities include teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, advising students, conducting research, and participating in academic and professional service activities. The normal teaching load is four classes per semester. Candidates should be able to teach a wide variety of undergraduate courses for the Computer Science major and graduate courses in their area(s) of expertise. The Computer Science Department is accredited by ABET and recognized by the NSA as one of the national centers of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in computer science or a related field at the time of appointment, as well as a commitment to excellence in teaching and a strong, demonstrated research record appropriate with West Chester University's scholarly academic standards.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong candidates from all areas within Computer Science will be considered. Preference will be given to those applicants with teaching experience and active research in one of Algorithms, Theory, Computer Organization and Architecture, Operating Systems, and Computer Graphics.

The Search Committee will accept confidential applications and nominations until the position is filled. Screening of candidates will begin immediately. For best consideration, applications and nominations should be provided before January 1, 2019. Candidates should submit an application letter indicating your interests and suitability, curriculum vitae, a statement of research interests, a statement of teaching philosophy, and unofficial academic transcripts (official graduate transcripts would be required later for finalists). Include email addresses for three referees when applying. Individuals wishing to place names in nomination should submit a letter of nomination, including the name, position, address and telephone number of the nominee. Applicants must successfully complete the interview process including a teaching and research demonstration to be considered as a finalist.
