As an assistant to the executive dean of academics, you will conduct departmental and university business under the dean’s direction. You will schedule the dean’s appointments, manage their calendar and schedule, and greet visitors, directing them to the appropriate staff member. You will prioritize all written departmental communications related to the executive dean, including promptly reading and routing mail and preparing correspondences.You will manage office supplies, order from Staples as necessary, and liaise between the dean and various departments. You will answer phone calls and student inquiries for the executive dean, the SCAD Atlanta phone line, and occasionally SCAD Atlanta admission.
In this role, you will manage work orders, coordinate with the physical resources, distribute information from the dean’s office to various departments, and compose departmental reports. You will be responsible for the coordination of faculty audits and faculty peer observation assignments. You will arrange meetings, prepare agendas and facilities, and take notes or write and transcribe minutes. You will assist department chairs and their assistants with schedule concerns, academic policies and procedures, and arranging quarterly departmental meetings. You will also help students with questions on academic policy or direct them to the appropriate office and track department budgets and purchases.
You will coordinate with the director of faculty recruitment on all interviews, prepare faculty rosters, and manage the file system. You will participate in scheduled university activities such as SCAD Days, professional development, and technology training. You will also attend weekly meetings with the assistant to the chief of academic officer to assist them with special projects and run errands.
In this position, you will liaise with SCAD Travel and the purchasing department on all matters related to travel or conference applications. You will coordinate all travel-related needs for the dean, chairs, and faculty, complete travel conference requests, and fill out related forms such as purchase requisitions and expense reports. You will also conduct research and compile data to include it in statistical reports.

Minimum Qualifications:
- At least two years of related experience
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite software
- Experience with Banner software or a similar database
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Successful work experience in an academic environment

- Valid driver’s license
Travel Required:
- Less than 10%
