VICE PROVOST FOR ENROLLMENT

Ithaca, New York

Cornell University seeks a national thought leader, with an ability to inspire and implement change, to serve in the newly created role of Vice Provost for Enrollment (“VPE”). As the Ivy League institution with the largest undergraduate population, the most undergraduate colleges and schools, and the widest breadth of academic programs, Cornell faces a unique array of complex and exciting opportunities and challenges in enrollment management not typically seen at other institutions nationwide.

As an institutional strategist, the VPE will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the university has a comprehensive enrollment strategy and that all related processes are optimally structured and effectively managed. Partnering with and supported by senior academic and administrative leaders across campus, the VPE will strategically position Cornell to better achieve its institutional goals and priorities. S/he will spearhead the university’s self-study in admissions, financial aid, and registrar with the intent to enhance and evolve Cornell’s current practices. In doing so, the VPE will ensure that Cornell competes ably with peers and that institution-wide goals are achieved, while also supporting and strengthening the specific enrollment-related needs and goals of the university’s individual colleges and schools.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a record of accomplishment in guiding strategic planning processes, leading high functioning teams, mentoring emerging leaders in the field, promoting a culture of data driven decision making, collaborating across campus with senior leaders and faculty, and fostering a culturally competent community. With its sights set on creating the best possible enrollment system with opportunities to enrich the lives of students, faculty, and staff alike, Cornell seeks a talented and thoughtful individual who wishes to help build and maintain a campus community that is academically curious, rigorous, inclusive, and diverse. The VPE will report directly to Provost Michael Kotlikoff and serve on his senior leadership team.
