The University of Southern Indiana invites inquiries, nominations and applications for its 5th President. The University seeks an inspiring, strategic and collaborative individual who is eager to lead a vibrant university with considerable growth potential, momentum and a history of stable finances.
Established in 1965 in Evansville, IN, the University of Southern Indiana (USI) is one of five state universities in Indiana conferring baccalaureate and higher degrees. USI enrolls nearly 9,500 undergraduate, graduate and dual credit students in more than 130 areas of study. USI offers competitive and renowned programs through four academic colleges and the School of Graduate Studies in online, hybrid, accelerated and in-person modes of instruction. As a student-centered campus, USI’s dedicated faculty and staff are committed to high impact learning, personalized attention and individual growth. Students partner with faculty in research, engage in a wide variety of internships and field experiences, participate in study-abroad opportunities in more than 60 countries and compete in 19 NCAA Division I varsity sports.
USI’s beautiful 1,400-acre campus is characterized by modern buildings and state-of-the-art academic, residential and athletic facilities. USI has made significant investments in new facilities and renovation since its founding. As of June 2024, the total investment was $506.9 million. As a Carnegie Foundation Community Engaged University, USI enjoys strong community support and collaborates extensively in the Tri-state community and beyond. It also holds a solid reputation in the state legislature and approximately 51.6 percent of the University’s operating budget comes from state appropriations.
The next President will be expected to build upon the accomplishments of their presidential predecessors, elevate the University’s reputation and visibility and implement a strategy for growth in enrollment, resources and influence. The successful candidate will have a graduate degree, with a preference for an earned terminal degree, and/or a successful track record of increasing responsibility and proven leadership experience.
