Ithaca College, a private institution renowned for its undergraduate liberal arts curriculum and pre-professional and graduate programs, seeks the next dean of its School of Humanities and Sciences (H&S).
The largest school at Ithaca College, the School of Humanities and Sciences has 23 academic departments, 52 undergraduate degree programs, two graduate degree programs and 45 minors. H&S programs of study span the humanities; natural, quantitative and social sciences; education; technology; and performing and creative arts, each of which integrates theory and practice to address the emerging demands of our changing world.
The school’s 242 full-time faculty comprise roughly half of all faculty at Ithaca College. As scholars, artists and mentors, the H&S faculty provide the school’s 2,170 students an immersive learning environment grounded in dialogue and collaboration in which they develop the critical thinking skills and personal integrity necessary for academic, professional and personal success.
Curricular and co‐curricular activities such as community‐based learning initiatives and professional internships embody H&S’s belief that the arts and sciences belong to and serve the greater community, and that knowledge put into practice generates informed citizenship, global awareness and social investment.
Ithaca College strives to be the standard-bearer for residential comprehensive colleges, fostering intellect, creativity and character in an active, student-centered learning community. Its five schools collectively offer more than 100 degree programs. With more than 500 full-time and 260 contingent faculty members, the college boasts a 10:1 student-faculty ratio, ensuring a highly personalized education. Graduate enrollment accounts for about 10 percent of total college enrollment, with degrees offered in education, music education, music performance, conducting, physical and occupational therapy, business and communications.
