Lycoming College, one of the nation's oldest and most respected liberal arts and sciences undergraduate colleges, invites nominations and applications for its 16th president. The College seeks an innovative, inspirational, and collaborative leader who will build on Lycoming's strengths and develop an ambitious plan to extend its more than 200-year legacy into the future.
Founded in 1812 and located in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, Lycoming College enrolls 1,200 undergraduate students including 32% international and domestic students of color. Building on a foundation in the liberal arts and sciences, the College is increasingly recognized for the quality of its experiential programming and for launching students with essential skills needed upon graduation in today's world. Students partner with faculty in doing original research, thrive in a robust program of internships and field experiences, study abroad in more than two dozen countries, and compete in 19 NCAA Division III sports. The College offers 48 majors and 65 minors across a wide variety of disciplines.
Lycoming College has earned the distinction of ranking #100 overall on the 2025 U.S. News & World Report National Liberal Arts Colleges list. Lycoming also ranked #22 in Best Value Schools and #7 in Social Mobility. The College's strong endowment per student helps to fund its ability to support a first-rate undergraduate education. During the past decade, more than $65 million has been invested in constructing new facilities and renovating others, including a new music building, science center, gateway center for admissions and other offices, and stadium for soccer, lacrosse, and field hockey.
Lycoming College seeks a dynamic leader who will embrace an agenda that includes a focus on academic excellence and innovation, enrollment growth, development of strategy and vision, stewardship of finances and fundraising, inclusive excellence and belonging, and community building and engagement. The new President will have a deep understanding of the role of higher education in an increasingly competitive landscape while embracing its liberal arts heritage and values. The successful candidate will be a dynamic leader and bold collaborator with a distinguished record of successful and progressive leadership in a complex organization. Among the desired characteristics and experiences of the new President are excellent communication skills; a track record of innovation and calculated risk-taking; a record of sound fiscal management; success in improving retention and increasing enrollment; a passion for working with donors and external constituents; and enthusiasm for successful team and community building.
