The College for Creative Studies seeks a creative, visionary, dynamic leader for the position of President. Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the President will have an extraordinary opportunity to advance a distinctive college incorporating a range of forward-looking programs in visual arts, media and design.

The College for Creative Studies (CCS) is a fully accredited, nonprofit, private college located in midtown Detroit. CCS strives to provide students with the tools needed for successful careers in the dynamic and growing creative industries. The College fosters students’ resolve to pursue excellence, act ethically, engage their responsibilities as citizens, and learn throughout their lives. With world-class faculty, unsurpassed facilities, and an endowment of $80 million poised for expansion, CCS teaches students to be visual communicators who actively use art and design toward the betterment of society. The College is a major supplier of talent to numerous industries such as transportation, film and animation, advertising and communications, consumer electronics, athletic apparel, and many more. Its graduates are exhibiting artists and teachers, design problem solvers and innovators, as well as creative leaders in business.

The College for Creative Studies seeks an inspiring and culturally literate executive with the intellectual breadth, communication and interpersonal skills, and experience to manage a specialized, complex organization. The successful candidate will be a collaborative leader with a distinguished record of outstanding professional accomplishment, proven commitment to equity and inclusion, and history of leadership success. They will have a proven track record of developing and executing a strategic vision; they must be a persuasive and sophisticated communicator who can represent the College and its academic mission to a broad range of stakeholders and partners regionally, nationally and globally. They must understand the complexities of higher education, particularly in the creative disciplines, and possess a proven ability to motivate and empower the staff and faculty to carry forward the institutional mission. The successful candidate will be able to build trust across constituencies through transparent, data-driven decision-making and an approachable leadership style. Moreover, the successful candidate must have the ability to lead and sustain long-term efforts to promote programs and fundraising activities that support institutional goals, a personal passion for arts and design, and a genuine interest in people.
