Southern Methodist University invites nominations and applications for the Dean of the Cox School of Business. Entering its second century of achievement, Southern Methodist University (SMU) is a university of increasing national prominence and impact. SMU is an independent, coeducational, research university that is nonsectarian in its teaching and committed to academic freedom and open inquiry. SMU is organized into eight academic units: Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences; Cox School of Business; Meadows School of the Arts; Bobby B. Lyle School of Engineering; Dedman School of Law; Moody School of Graduate and Advanced Studies; Perkins School of Theology; and Annette Caldwell Simmons School of Education and Human Development.

The Cox School is one of the world’s leading business schools and offers a full range of business education programs. Among them are: BBA, Full-Time MBA, Professional MBA (PMBA), Executive MBA (EMBA), Online MBA (OMBA), Master of Science in Accounting, Master of Science in Business Analytics, Master of Science in Entrepreneurship, Master of Science in Finance, Master of Science in Management, Master of Science in Real Estate, Master of Science in Sport Management, and non-degree Executive Education. The School also offers a number of unique resources for students, ranging from its Business Leadership Center, Bridwell Institute for Economic Freedom, Caruth Institute for Entrepreneurship, Folsom Institute for Real Estate, Latino Leadership Initiative, Maguire Energy Institute, Southwest Graduate School of Banking and Global Leadership Program, Spears Institute for Entrepreneurial Leadership, and an international alumni network with chapters in more than 20 countries. Reporting to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic affairs, the University seeks an eminent and effective academic leader, with a distinguished record of scholarly research and administrative experience to serve as the next Dean of the Cox School of Business. With a strong commitment to excellence in the School’s research, education, and professional programs, the Dean of the Cox School has oversight and responsibility for all of the School’s undergraduate, graduate, and professional educational programs in addition to the School’s faculty and staff. The Dean must have the ability to recruit strong research-oriented faculty and raise significant funds to continue growth in research. The Dean should have a proven track record of growing graduate and executive education programs. The Dean will value and recognize the importance of excellence in scholarly achievements and will leverage SMU’s exceptionally collaborative culture by building strong relationships with SMU’s other schools, institutes and departments. The ideal candidate will have an earned doctorate in an appropriate field, be eligible for appointment at the rank of Professor, and be able to chart a distinctive course for the Cox School.
