The Department of Literature at Claremont McKenna College (CMC) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the early assistant professor level in British literature of the long eighteenth century (1660–1830), with a demonstrated focus in gender. The position will begin on July 1, 2025. The successful candidate is expected to hold a Ph.D. by the time of the appointment.
The successful applicant will teach one section of our required first-year writing seminar and three other courses in literature. The teaching load is two courses per semester. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to maintain an active, high-quality research program and the highest standards of excellence in teaching.

Anticipated annual salary range:
$90,000 - $105,000

The teaching and research statements may be included in the cover letter or provided separately.
