As a member of the university commercial contracts counsel, you will advise staff and faculty on a broad range of matters including commercial contracts, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance, with a particular focus on reviewing, drafting, and negotiating domestic and international contracts. In this role you will develop and provide training to administrators, faculty, staff, and students on legal requirements in the course of their work and activities on behalf of SCAD. Your responsibilities will include undertaking projects analyzing the law and its impact on the operations of SCAD and reviewing policies.

Minimum Qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited law school with at least five years of experience in a high-quality legal practice
- Excellent academic credentials with superior communication, interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts with familiarity with legal issues affecting universities or other complex organizations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment using good judgment to counsel clients
- Ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies and handle a wide variety of legal matters both independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in licensing and technology agreements
- Experience developing and/or implementing a legal compliance function, or working for an institution of higher education
Certificates, licenses, and registrations:
- Licensed to practice law in Georgia or eligible for admission to the Georgia Bar within six months of hire
Travel Required:
- 10% to 20%
