Position Summary:
A post doctoral researcher position is available starting on Fall 2018 in the Department of Nuclear Engineering at the University of New Mexico. The focus of the prospective candidate is on the establishment of a test loop facility to study materials degradation in molten lead. The candidate may run experiments to study lead corrosion of advanced alloys and radioisotope retention in molten lead to help support development of Lead-cooled Fast Reactor (LFR). This work is programmatically supported by Department of Energy (DOE).

Minimum Qualifications:

 

 

  • PHD in Nuclear, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science by the start date of appointment
  • Hands on experience with materials corrosion studies


Preferred Qualifications:

 

 

  • Experience with experimental loop/facility design, construction, and operation
  • Experience with material degradation analysis and gas chromatography
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working
    with broadly diverse communities
