Dean, Martin Tuchman School of Management

Founded in 1988, the Martin Tuchman School of Management (MTSM) is an AACSB-accredited STEM-designated school with pre-college, undergraduate (BS), and graduate (MS, MBA, Executive MBA, and PhD) programs. It holds a central role in New Jersey Institute of Technology’s (NJIT) polytechnic and economic development mission, which includes the management of innovation in large enterprises and the formation of new ventures. In its 2019 edition, U.S. News & World Report ranks NJIT 106th in the National Universities category, and names NJIT on the Best Value Schools and Most Ethnically and Economically Diverse. NJIT also has risen 18 places to number 46 on U.S. News' list of Top Public Schools. Forbes ranks NJIT #1 in promoting the “social mobility” of its graduates. In the last six years, NJIT has invested $400 million in research and teaching facilities and hired nearly 130 new faculty members. It is located in the largest city in the state of New Jersey at the heart of the northeast technology, financial, and health sciences corridor, with direct access to international gateways, mass transit, and the cultural and professional resources of the Tri-State area.

 

The Dean serves as the chief academic officer of the MTSM which provides a Business education with the “power of STEM”. The MTSM is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International). The Dean has the primary responsibility to advance the school as a nationally recognized leader in technology-oriented and STEM-based management education and research. The Dean is a senior academic officer who reports to the Provost and Senior Executive Vice President. The Dean works collaboratively with the Provost, the President, the Deans of NJIT’s other five colleges, and other senior officers to advance the university's mission. The Dean of the MTSM shall span disciplinary boundaries to build alliances and partnerships between the MTSM and the University's colleges, institutes, centers, as well as outside stakeholders. The successful candidate shall be a dynamic individual with a demonstrated ability to advance interdisciplinary research, effective teaching and learning outcomes, and implement innovative solutions to the challenges facing management and higher education today. The Dean will be expected to lead the AACSB re-accreditation process and chart MTSM’s course for the next decade in alignment with NJIT's strategic plan, Vision 2020, (http://www.njit.edu/provost/strategicplan). The Dean shall promote a culturally aware and diverse work environment that encourages collaboration and shared governance.
