The Division of Hematology, Oncology and Blood & Marrow Transplantation in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa is seeking PhD faculty member to be hired at the rank of Instructor. We seek qualified applicants to lead basic and translational research projects towards improved understanding of the mechanisms of thrombo-inflammation in context of arterial and venous thrombosis. This position will be responsible for generating new proposals for intramural and extramural research funding both as a PI and co-PI as well as contribute to ongoing funded research activities. This is a non-tenure track position, and the appointment length will coincide with available funding. Salary is commensurate to experience.
A PhD or equivalent in a Biomedical Science field and a minimum of five years of postdoctoral training in basic and/or translational research is required. A successful candidate must demonstrate expertise in various techniques including DNA/RNA/protein preparation and purification, real-time PCR, flow cytometry, platelet metabolomics, intravital imaging, experimental models of arterial and venous thrombosis. Also required is experience in supervising laboratory and/or research personnel. The candidate should also possess excellent written and verbal communication skills as demonstrated by scientific publications and oral presentations to scientific community. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.
First author or corresponding author publications and evidence of independent funding is desirable.
