The Department of Religion at Baylor University seeks to fill a full-time position at the rank of Lecturer (World Religions) to start August 1, 2025. In addition to courses in World Religions, this person will teach core curriculum courses (Christian Scriptures and/or Christian Heritage). Preference will be given to candidates specializing in Buddhism or Hinduism. Preference will also be given to candidates active in Baptist congregational life. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D., Th.D., or D.Phil.

This appointment is a renewable full-time, benefits-eligible, teaching-focused position with a 6-year promotion path to Senior Lecturer for successful candidates and a 12-year promotion path to Teaching Professor for highly successful candidates (see: Policy on Full-Time Lecturers, Senior Lecturers, and Teaching Professors at Baylor University )

The successful candidate will hold a PhD, ThD, or DPhil.

Though the search is broadly for a candidate with expertise in World Religions, we are particularly interested in prospective faculty with expertise in Buddhism or Hinduism. In addition to teaching courses in World Religions (which includes the general introductory course), the person hired will also teach core curriculum courses (Christian Scriptures or Christian Heritage). Since the focus of this position is undergraduate teaching, candidates with demonstrated teaching effectiveness is desired. Preference will also be given to candidates who are active in Baptist congregational life.
