Associate Director of Faculty Development (ATL)

As the associate director, you will support academic quality initiatives by reviewing course evaluations and conducting classroom observations and assist the director with instructional engagement initiatives across all SCAD locations. In this position you will play a key leadership role in the planning and delivery of the university’s signature faculty development programming; create and oversee workshops, trainings, coaching and professional development opportunities; and assess and recommend faculty for participation in university professional development programming, both as facilitators and attendees. Responsibilities include conducting high-quality faculty coaching sessions and academic quality audits, maintaining accurate coaching records and data as directed, and training and mentoring instructional engagement coaches as needed.

In the position of associate director, you will be expected to identify digital resources, such as videos and interactive media to promote and advance teaching excellence across various platforms, and act as a representative of faculty professional development and academic quality. You must be able to maintain a comprehensive project timeline, set measurable goals and meet due dates, distribute approved information and communications, and attend university events as needed.

This role includes the opportunity to teach, not to exceed two courses per quarter and with prior approval of the director. You must be capable of remaining up to date in teaching best practices to inform the development and advancement of faculty professional development programming. Among other duties, the associate director serves as a professional model to faculty, staff, and students through a positive, collaborative, and solutions-oriented approach that is evidenced through measurable results. Travel between university locations may be required.

Minimum Qualifications:     

• Master’s degree in relevant area of expertise with at least five years of experience in various modalities of teaching and leadership

• Outstanding interpersonal communication, problem-solving, critical thinking, and collaboration skills with facilitation abilities

• Excellent project management experience, organizational skills, superior attention to detail, and exceptional work ethic to meet expectations and deadlines

• Ability to independently prioritize and manage projects efficiently with a commitment to student learning and experience within the academic environment

• Self-starter, results-oriented focus and assertive personality with a dedication to personal and professional integrity

Preferred Qualifications:     

• Experience in higher education administration

• SCAD teaching experience

• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and experience with Salesforce or similar database

Travel Required:

• Less than 10%  

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
