The University of Dallas (UD), a private, Catholic, co-educational, liberal arts university founded in 1956, seeks a president who will champion, preserve, and nurture its unique core liberal arts foundation and unabashedly Catholic character, both central to its unique identity and ethos. 

UD employs 140 full-time faculty who teach over 2,500 students, including 1,450 undergraduate students in the Constantin College of Liberal Arts and 1,060 graduate students in the Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business graduate programs, in the Braniff Graduate School of Liberal Arts, and in the Neuhoff School of Ministry. One of only 23 Catholic universities in the nation to earn a Phi Beta Kappa chapter, UD is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and the Gupta College is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

In line with its mission, and existing strengths, UD’s next president will work with a close-knit and passionate community of trustees, faculty, alumni, staff, and students to articulate and implement a strategic plan that will ensure the University’s continued success. This vision will increase UD’s visibility and engagement with external supporters; will reinforce and strengthen its signature undergraduate core curriculum, integrating it with additional growth in its graduate programs; will strengthen and grow facilities and technological resources; and will reinforce UD’s identity as an institution of Catholic higher education deeply committed to ensuring that its students receive a transformative education rooted in the Catholic intellectual tradition.

Critical to attaining these aspirations is a president who, first and foremost, exemplifies good judgment and embodies an energetic conviction about the intrinsic worth of Catholic liberal education. In this way the president will personify the institution and will advocate its cause to internal and external constituencies. To this end, he or she will be a devout Catholic with a deep and unwavering commitment to maintaining UD’s rigorous liberal arts core curriculum and to supporting its mission of intellectual inquiry rooted in the Catholic intellectual tradition derived from the deposit of faith and apostolic tradition. The president will be an exceptional communicator capable of garnering the support, especially through fund raising, to sustain and advance the University’s noble mission and then execute those visions.
