Dean of the College of the Arts and Architecture

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee (UWM) seeks a visionary, entrepreneurial, and collaborative academic leader to serve as the inaugural dean of the College of the Arts and Architecture.

The College of the Arts and Architecture is committed to offering outstanding education for visual and performing artists, architects, and urban planners among diverse communities in Milwaukee, the state of Wisconsin, and beyond through education, research, and community engagement.

As part of the university’s 2030 Action Plan, UWM has recently undergone a strategic realignment of schools and colleges. As a result, in 2023 the School of Architecture and Urban Planning and the Peck School of the Arts were combined to form what is now the College of the Arts and Architecture.

The College of the Arts and Architecture enrolls nearly 2,400 students across more than 82 degree, certificate, and minor programs. The college has 63 tenured or tenure-track faculty, 129 academic staff, 16 university staff, and a budget of over $21 million. Faculty expertise spans a wide array of disciplines, including Architecture; Art and Design; Dance; Film, Video, Animation, and New Genres; Music; Theatre; and Urban Planning. Additionally, the School of Architecture and Urban Planning is the only accredited architecture program in the state of Wisconsin.
