Miami University (Miami), an original Public Ivy and Top 75 National Public University, invites applications and nominations for the Dean of the College of Education, Health and Society (EHS) position. Miami seeks an exceptional leader with a strong record of collaboration, a forward-looking vision, and significant academic accomplishment and administrative experience.

Miami University is a highly respected and distinctive public institution of higher education recognized for outstanding undergraduate education and selective graduate and research programs. The University serves the citizens of the state of Ohio, having a strong regional impact in Southeast Ohio, as well as a strong national and international constituency, with more than 40% of their student body coming from outside Ohio. With a student body of nearly 17,000 undergraduate and approximately 2,200 graduate students at its Oxford campus, Miami University effectively combines a wide range of strong academic programs with the personal attention ordinarily found only at much smaller institutions. Graduate programs complement and enhance the undergraduate educational experience. Two regional campuses and the Voice of America Learning Center, which collectively enroll an additional approximately 4,000 students, and the Dolibois European Center in Luxembourg, provide key access points and opportunities for traditional and non-traditional students alike.

Reporting directly to the Provost and Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs, the dean is the chief administrative, academic, and budgetary officer for the College of EHS. The dean will oversee six departments: teacher preparationkinesiology and healthfamily science and social workeducational psychology, sport leadership and management and educational leadership. Through these departments and a number of centers that engage with community organizations, private-sector businesses, and government agencies, the next dean will support the faculty’s ground-breaking research and multidisciplinary curriculum, which is designed to prepare students for tomorrow's challenges. This individual will lead and advocate for approximately 3000 undergraduate and graduate students, 1230 full-time faculty members, and a staff of nearly 60 and oversee a budget of approximately $19M.

The next leader will need to possess a strong understanding of the education, health, sports leadership, social work, and human services industry today. The next dean will need to understand the PK-20 educational landscape of Ohio, while supporting, addressing, and contributing to the broader community needs and development within all the areas of discipline in EHS. EHS has a strong embedded social justice mission and the next dean will continue to focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion within EHS, the larger Miami University, and their community partnerships. The dean will possess the capacity to leverage Miami's existing strengths while developing visibility and prestige in the College's diverse programs and its growth of health and sport leadership programs. The dean will effectively manage the varied needs of college stakeholders and its departments while continually challenging students, faculty, donors, and external partners to elevate the level of collaboration and communication amongst each constituency.

The successful candidate will hold a terminal degree in one of the College of Education, Health, and Society’s general fields of study and have achieved a distinguished record of scholarly, professional achievement for appointment as a full professor in one of the college's departments.
