The services of the University Library are housed in a 140,000 square foot, five story, energy-efficient addition completed in 2010. The library is home to two 33-capacity instructional labs, 100+ computers, 11 group study rooms, a Technology Checkout Program, multiple quiet study and collaborative spaces, and informal lounge areas interspersed throughout the building and a café. It has emerged as CSUDH students' "Academic Home away from Home." CSUDH students study in a stunningly beautiful library that contains multicultural artwork reflecting the ethnic and cultural diversity of the campus, the community and the Southern California area. The library houses two art galleries, one space of which is shared with the Faculty Development Center, and the Archives and Special Collections Department.

Responsibilities
The Reference Services Coordinator provides leadership for the planning, development, promotion, delivery, and assessment of the University Library's online and face-to-face reference resources, services, and initiatives. In collaboration with colleagues in the Reference, Instruction, and Outreach Services (RIOS) department, the successful candidate will continue to explore new ways to support the teaching, learning, and research needs of the CSUDH community and to increase the campus community's awareness of the library's various research assistance programs and their contributions to student success. Additionally, the Reference Services Coordinator oversees the hiring, training, and supervision of the library student assistants who provide front-line assistance at the Research Help Desk and the scheduling of the students, librarians, and staff who provide synchronous research assistance face-to-face and/or online. In collaboration with the User Services Coordinator, develops, implements, and assesses the Library's Student Assistant training program, with an emphasis on skills needed at the Research Help Desk. The Reference Services Coordinator also serves as the primary administrator for the library's reference related Springshare products. The person in this position will also be responsible for the collection, analysis, and reporting of reference statistics as well as for making data-driven recommendations to library administration regarding changes to existing services, the development of new ones, and the discontinuation of those that no longer meet user needs. This position will be a member of the Reference, Instruction, and Outreach Services Department and will have reference, instruction, liaison, and collection development responsibilities. In addition, library faculty members are expected to engage in scholarship and service to the university and the profession.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited institution or an appropriate equivalent.
Demonstrated knowledge of trends, methods and best practices in reference services.
Ability to effectively participate in the library's liaison program in the areas of research consultation, instruction, and outreach.
Leadership ability, strong problem-solving skills, and commitment to continuous learning.
Ability to manage projects and multiple tasks while meeting deadlines and solving problems in a rapidly changing environment.
A positive attitude, excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively and collegially with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff.
Evidence of energy, creativity, initiative and commitment to professional growth
Demonstrated potential for meeting the requirements of recruitment, tenure, and promotion through effective job performance and scholarly and service activities.
Experience working with library users from diverse age, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications
Experience designing and implementing reference services in an academic library.
Demonstrated experience with information literacy instruction, including the development of student learning outcomes, active learning strategies, and assessments that measure student learning.
Demonstrated success in outreach and cultivating successful relationships with diverse campus stakeholders to promote library initiatives.
Demonstrated experience with Springshare products and applications.
Knowledge of peer learning and related pedagogies.
Evidence of flexibility, innovative thinking, and a vision for the future of academic libraries.
Experience with graphic design and promotion of library resources and services through social media

Employment Requirement – Background Check
