Assistant Professor (Tenure Track): Multicultural Theatre History and/or Performance Studies

The Theatre and Dance Department at Santa Clara University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Multicultural Theatre History and Performance Studies, with specializations in multiculturalism, global theatre, and the critical study of race and/or ethnicity in performance, to begin in September 2019.

The selected applicant will teach lower division courses including Critical Perspectives in Performance A & B, Latinx Theatre, Native American Theatre, Multicultural Theatre or Drama of Diversity for the Department of Theatre and Dance and advanced courses in their area of specialty. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Theatre History or Performance Studies. We particularly value candidates with a specialization in multiculturalism, global theatre, and the critical study of race and/or ethnicity in performance. Candidates should demonstrate evidence of publication/creative scholarship, including the ability to publish in peer-reviewed journals, demonstrated ability in directing, as well as evidence of successful university teaching.

Located in the heart of northern California’s Silicon Valley, Santa Clara is a private, Jesuit, Catholic university committed to promoting social justice in a comprehensive educational setting. Faculty members are teaching scholars who balance a commitment to excellent teaching with active programs of research or creative scholarship. The standard teaching load is seven courses on the quarter system, with a one course reduction each year to support scholarship.
