Radford University, a public university enrolling nearly 7,800 students, invites applications and nominations for the position of Associate Vice President of Finance and University Controller. Located along the iconic Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, Radford University boasts a beautiful 211-acre main residential campus along the New River in Radford; as well as vibrant learning environments in downtown Roanoke at the Carilion Community Hospital and the Roanoke Higher Education Center ; and the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center located in Abingdon. As a Doctoral/Professional Carnegie classified institution and categorized as a National University by the U.S. News & World Report, Radford University offers 76 bachelor's degree programs in 47 disciplines, one associate degree, and six certificates at the undergraduate level; 28 master's programs in 23 disciplines and six doctoral programs at the graduate level; and 17 post-baccalaureate certificates and one post-master's certificate. The general education curriculum, REAL began in the fall of 2021 as a result of a three-year general education reform. The student-faculty ratio is 13:1 with 59% of classes having fewer than 20 students.

Reporting to the Vice President for Finance & Administration (VPFA), the Associate Vice President for Finance and University Controller (AVPF & UC) provides strategic leadership and sound operational management of the core financial operations of the University to include accounting, reporting, student accounts, cash management, disbursements, payroll, policy, tax, internal controls, and risk management. The AVPF & UC is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the accounting records, overseeing the production of timely and accurate financial reporting, recommending, and maintaining appropriate fiscal policies and internal controls, and ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, state and federal laws and University policies. The AVPF & UC serves as a critical member of the division leadership team, assists the VPFA in the development of strategic goals, coordinates and executes major initiatives and special projects, and implements financial plans and policies. Leading a high-functioning team, the AVPF & UC works collaboratively across the University to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate controller functions of the University. Candidates should have a master's degree in accounting or business administration with a concentration in accounting, or bachelor's degree with significant work experience that equates to an advanced degree is required. Comprehensive experience in all accounting areas; and at least five years of experience in a managerial/supervisory capacity.
