As the collection strategy librarian, you will maintain accurate records of acquisitions, assess current collections, and develop long-term strategies to meet the needs of future SCAD students. This position will include managing the implementation and delivery of online resources, ensuring information about the resources is accurate and up to date, and negotiating with vendors in administering new and existing licenses for electronic products. You will serve as the contract initiator for materials purchased, assisting with license interpretation and consulting with the university attorney to resolve license and contract issues.
In this position you will be expected to research license agreements to place new subscription orders, develop guidelines for standard licensing terms, monitor subscriptions in relationship to existing license expirations and renewals, register and activate electronic subscriptions, and troubleshoot problems reported by patrons and other library staff. As the librarian your responsibilities include providing relevant statistical data and metrics to support collection analysis and development decisions, maintaining accurate data in the library's knowledge bases, and cultivating successful vendor relationships.
The ideal candidate will be able to stay knowledgeable of innovations and best practices in electronic resources management and collection development and can collaborate with others on the library team to explore, develop, and promote the use of online resources. They must be able to resolve complex acquisition problems and apply knowledge of current issues and trends in acquisitions, the publishing industry, and scholarly communication to improve operations and services. Additionally, they will inform administration of budget and pricing issues while providing communication links and resources for faculty, staff, and students to recommend acquired resources.
Job Duties
• Serves as contract initiator for materials purchased and/ or subscription issues
• Negotiates with vendors and content providers in line with institutional policy in administering new and existing licenses for electronic products, assisting with license interpretation and consulting with the university attorney to resolve license and contract issues
• Researches license agreements in order to place new subscription orders, develops and maintains guidelines for standard licensing terms, monitors subscriptions in relationship to existing license expirations and renewals, registration and activation of electronic subscriptions
• Provides relevant statistical data and metrics, including usage and cost analysis, to support collection analysis and development decisions related to online resources
• Maintains accurate, timely holdings data in the library's knowledge bases and other systems
• Maintains successful vendor/publisher relations and monitors and evaluates their services
• Resolves complex acquisitions problems and applies knowledge of current issues and trends in acquisitions, the publishing industry, and scholarly communication to improve operations and services
• Maintains communication links and resources for faculty, staff and students to recommend additions to library collections
• Handles ordering, payments, and invoicing of library collections
• Assesses and processes donations for addition to library collections
• Creates collection development strategy in collaboration with head librarians and senior director
• Leads collection development committee and provides training and support to designated library selectors

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in library science from an ALA accredited program
- Two years of library experience that includes electronic resources management, acquisitions, and collection development
- Excellent communication skills

- Less than 10%
