The Cornell SC Johnson College of Business invites applicants for an Assistant Professor 4-year renewable term faculty position in our Management & Organizations area.  The intended start date of this position is July 1, 2024. The position will be based in Ithaca, NY.

 

We seek an outstanding scholar with an emerging track record of research in leading academic outlets, especially in the following areas: entrepreneurship, and/or family business. The successful candidate is expected to maintain an impactful program of research relevant to broad societal, economic, and business issues and to communicate results to policymakers and practitioners. Excellent teaching skills are a must. 

 

Candidates must have a PhD in strategy, economics, sociology, data science, or related fields by the time they start in the position. Preferred candidates will demonstrate high standards of accomplishment in research, teaching, and service.  The tenure home will be in one of the three schools within the College of Business and will be determined upon hire.

 

The Cornell SC Johnson College of Business (established on July 1, 2016) combines three Schools, the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management (Johnson), the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management (Dyson), and the Peter and Stephanie Nolan School of Hotel Administration (Nolan).

 

The Johnson School offers MBA, Accelerated MBA, Executive MBA, and Ph.D. programs. Courses and programs are taught at Cornell’s main Ithaca campus, the Cornell Tech campus in New York City, and other locations across the globe.

 

Dyson houses a top-ranked undergraduate business program as well as graduate programs that award Ph.D., M.S. and M.P.S. degrees. Areas of faculty research include management; environmental, energy and resource economics; food and agricultural economics; and international and development economics. Faculty members in the Dyson School frequently collaborate with colleagues in Computer and Information Sciences, Economics, Engineering, Natural Resources, and other units on campus.

 

The Nolan School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University is the top-ranked hospitality management program worldwide, with undergraduate, masters, and Ph.D. programs. The Nolan School of Hotel Administration (Nolan) has approximately 800 undergraduates and 60 graduate students. Founded in 1922, Nolan is an AACSB accredited business school, with a resident faculty of 65 and over 10,000 alumni worldwide. Important resources available to faculty include extraordinary access to industry leaders, excellent research funding, the Center for Hospitality Research (CHR), and the cultural and intellectual resources of the Cornell University community.

 

It is expected that our faculty teach across multiple schools within the College of Business.
