Dean, School of Business

Norfolk State University (NSU), located in Norfolk, Virginia seeks an innovative leader to serve as the next Dean of the School of Business.

Founded in 1935, NSU is a comprehensive, urban, historically Black university (HBCU). It is a public institution with an undergraduate enrollment of 4,591 and 394 graduate students. Brought to life amid the Great Depression, the university provided a setting in which the youth of the region could give expression to their hopes and aspirations. At its founding, it was named the Norfolk Unit of Virginia Union University. Over many years, NSU evolved as an institution of higher education and became fully independent in 1969. Subsequent legislative acts designated the institution as a university and authorized the granting of graduate degrees. It is one of five HBCUs in Virginia (the others are Hampton, Virginia State, Virginia Union, and Virginia University).

The School of Business, with a current enrollment of over 700 undergraduate students, has maintained Business accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International since 1990 and offers three undergraduate degrees. It was one of the first HBCU business schools accredited by AACSB. The mission of the School of Business is to provide quality education and produce successful, ethical, competitive, and innovative leaders for the global environment by focusing on high-quality instruction, research, and service.

Reporting to Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs DoVeanna Fulton, the School of Business Dean oversees the academic enterprise for the school, focusing on teaching and learning in the program while also overseeing the scholarship and research efforts of the school's faculty.
