Vice President for Student Engagement and Transformation and Dean of Students

Widener University seeks an experienced, strategic, and thoughtful leader for the inaugural position of Vice President for Student Engagement and Transformation and Dean of Students. Reporting to President Stacey Robertson and serving as a member of her core Leadership Team, the Vice President will partner with the entire Widener community to build on the strong student-centered culture that permeates the institution. With a focus on agility and belonging, the Vice President will collaboratively design and implement a holistic vision for the student experience at Widener that will inform both high-level strategy and day-to-day operations.

Since its founding in 1821, Widener has undergone multiple transformations to become a selective, nationally ranked, doctoral university. Today, Widener offers bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral, and certificate programs to approximately 5,600 students across three campuses and online. Widener University’s hub campus in the City of Chester, Pennsylvania is located just off I-95 and is only twenty minutes from Philadelphia, the nation’s sixth-largest city and home to world-class art, culture, sports, entertainment, and history.

The Vice President for Student Engagement and Transformation and Dean of Students will take the helm of a newly unified and robust division – guiding the University’s student engagement, residential living, wellbeing and belonging, athletics, campus experience, and campus safety areas. Supported by an experienced senior leadership team, the new Vice President will shape an inclusive undergraduate and graduate student experience on the University’s Chester campus. The VP will lead this new unit with a spirit of innovation and creativity; keep the University’s values of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging at the fore; be sensitive and responsive to student needs; be transparent and consultative; contribute to decision-making on the President’s Leadership Team; and make strategic decisions to maximize impact and student transformation, growth, and engagement.

In keeping with the spirit and values of Widener University, the first Vice President for Student Engagement and Transformation and Dean of Students will be a collaborative and entrepreneurial leader who is visible and accessible both across campus and in the local community. The new Vice President should be an experienced leader with deep subject matter expertise in modern student affairs, as well as have an ease and genuine rapport with students, faculty, staff and community members.

This is a full-time position that will be performed on the Chester campus in Pennsylvania. Salary commensurate with experience with a generous benefits package.
